Preoperatively, there are many important factors for the choice of operation - duration of the disease, acute or chronic, previous acute attacks treated surgically, number of primary and secondary openings, etc..

The same is with the postoperative setting - type of operation, indicators of successful operation (time to return to work, time when the wounds healed completely without any secretion, time to sport activities) plus recurrence rate, wound dehiscence etc..
