I am looking for a research grant for DNA Barcoding. I am planning to conduct an individual research about DNA Barcoding of Flora at Sibuyan Island, Romblon, Philippines. This selected place is also known as "Galapagos Island of South East Asia".
The first question to always ask when you want grant funding is: "what is the benefit of the work for the funder?"
When you state that you want a grant for DNA Barcoding, there is no "benefit" clear in doing that. (Yes, I understand what DNA Barcoding is, but what is the benefit of this specific application?)
Until you get really clear on the benefit - it probably doesn't matter whether someone has grants associated with this kind of work or not - they will be very hard for you to get.
The first thing I always have my grant writing students start with is developing an Elevator Pitch that clarifies the benefits and outcomes of the research.
