Is there a practical method that can be used practically to separate silt size particles from other sizes ?
As far as I know, in lab the particle size distribution test may be used in this issue.
But Dr. Mutaz the conventional sedimentation method does not allow you to separate silt sized particles from clay particles.
Centrifuge should be the best way to separate them,

Yes that is right Dr. Mohammed. The particles larger than 63um are easy to separate using PSD but it may be difficult as you said to eliminate the finer one using sedimentation test. Dr. Mohammed is correct. Sieve analysis separates the coarse fraction (Gravel and Sand) form the fine fraction (Silt and Clay). The hydrometer test can provide information about how much clay and silt we have. However, If I understand the question correctly, Mohammed is interested in a practical way to separate them. In this case, Omer is correct and the Centrifuge method should work.
