It is observed that since decades same systems are followed in Maximum schools and college (except a few). Do you feel the old system of education has to be thrashed and instead of investing almost 22-25 years of life in basic education, applicable education systems should be implemented so that students can complete education maximum by age of 18 and start earning.
I look forward to find better education systems and pedagogy.
Add you valuable comments and suggestions.
There is no hard and fast answer to this. Fewer years of education and faster entry into the workforce can, and often does, lead to lower lifelong earnings. But that is on the individual level; at the societal level, it's entirely possible that having some people enter the workforce earlier and others later might have some sort of average benefit...while possibly exacerbating inequalities. This is a nuanced issue that doesn't have a simple answer.

Really,
A worthy proposal
To be discussed
I support the proposal
With changing teaching systems
While reducing the age to start school enrollment in four to five years
Although in recent years the work has been accelerated to study stages for outstanding students
Good education is essential for economic and social development. Sustainable economic development in the twenty-first century requires certain key competencies for lifelong learning that schools must learn. Skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, digital literacy, and social and civic responsibility are a necessity for new entrants to the global labor market.

Yes, for the sake of a worldwide peaceful coexistence, education must cease to be politicized by the respective governments while paired with a genuine stimulation for creativity consisting in personal liberty for the students to find solutions to the hard problems of current life.
Yes indeed, education is a dynamic process and need to be change, revise or update at least in 3-5 years time periods.
There are parallel development taking place on this line.
Teaching is slowly replaces with skilled based courses.
Also MOOC & online Learning platforms have evolved in big way.
We have this will take is to the change your asking for.
Input from other research are noted
The Spanish educational system needs structural and basic changes as soon as possible.
Yes, change is required so as to keep pace with technological changes and demands for more simplified approach of content delivery using Information technology
Completely changing the system is not feasible, transformation in this system is already happening through information and communication technologies; again educational ecology does not limited to physical boundaries, virtual learning has made that educational ecology more like any time, anywhere, so it is possible to learn while working or learning through work....age does not limit the possibility to learn or work, depends on socioeconomic status....
Some has to work earlier in their lives, others can be sponsored by parents, institutions, government; financial assistance for education, can help improve higher education to greater extent.
The educational system has been changing constantly which would have a positive significant impact on educators and learners who are the fisrt benefactors behind all of this!
Dear Nazia Asad, You are right on that transformation of education system is occurring. A problem with the traditional educational system is in my opinion the lack of favor for practical learning in favor of theoretical constructs. The land grant system I believe was a good system for addressing this be focusing on agriculture and engineering. The learning by doing philosophy is critical for a better education system. Our educational system should focus on collaborating creative solutions to actual issues. I believe the education system should be universal and give a equal playing field for all the participants. Overspecialization is a big issue in our present higher education. The goal of education should be to develop complete responsible people who can well serve this and future generations.
YES! I am in New York and I know our educational system for primary education is a big beast to take on so it is not easy. I believe this gave birth to the Charter School system. It has also been the influencer to our workforce and many years ago it used to be the opposite. So we must make major changes or graduate school will soon be a standard requirement because at that stage the interest is so focused.
First we need to redefine the purpose of education.Second we need to establish a case that the current education system is not achieving the aims and objective in relation with the newly establish purpose of the education.Thirdly we need to built a consensus for the transformation to occur.Development of education system is an evolutionary process. There are changes taking place at the structural and functional level. Some countries are taking innovative steps in reforming the education system with great success. The pace of change is slow however it will take sometime for these countries to completely overhaul the educational system and set an example for other countries to follow. I think change is already occurring at the intellectual ,structural and functional level and complete change will occur from these mini changes according to need of the hour.No complete transformation at once is possible.
@Ali mohamed rashed completely true. Skills should be imbibed from primary schooling.....
The education system should be revamped so that the graduation rate from high school is increased and drop outs minimized. Teachers and schools should not let a student without a passing grade onto the higher level class. In the USA there are many who are supposed to have finished HS but have a reading level at the 5th grade level and math skills at the 3rd grade level. This is for the so-called passing student. I would hate to think how these students have been allowed to go from grade to grade without meeting the minimum requirements. Thus a strict system of testing should be implemented at every grade and efforts to improve retention and minimize drop outs brainstormed and implemented. This is not an easy task but well worth doing it so that we are not spending additional government monies on Developmental Education at the college level.
Yes, absolutely. After finishing the education period of basic cultural techniques (from 6-12 years), the learning system should switch to project course works (12-18 years), in a dual and vocational manner, combining specific practices(skills) and knowledge.
The skills and knowledge transfer will remain fully incomplete, if it is not merged with personal development, i.e. to reinforce the true humanistic potential of the learner. Market conformity alone is not sufficient, time-tested tools of human development matter more than the temporal situation and motion of labor markets, entrepreneurial opportunities and monetary fluctuations.
The education system should reflect and guide the changed in society.
Yes indeed ;
-There is need for more innovation in the education system.
- More advanced technologies should be used in this sector in order to compete .
- More and more amendments should be done to make students more physically fit and mentally strong.
The ability of home schooled students to consistently outperform the traditional centralized education system is telling. I believe combinations of home schooling and centralized education would give better results than either one or the other but do not know of any serious studies of this comparison.
Rather that suggest the present education system is too lengthy I believe the societal goal would be a development of life long education which is self and community orientated from infancy to physical death.
Russian scientist Andrei Fursov said the following phrase: "I often tell my students in my lectures — teach math well, because the moment will come when no one except you will teach your children mathematics". The more we discuss education, the more it degrades. Therefore, the most reliable way is when parents themselves will teach their children, futher then older children will teach younger children. Because it is in the family that the unity of education and upbringing is achieved. Now these two important processes are separated, because education has become a business. However, it is impossible to teach well without good parenting. That is why the so-called "Home Education" is becoming popular now and this is guaranteed good knowledge. What to do? It is necessary to teach children and students the technology of extracting knowledge from the Internet and understanding this knowledge in their brains. For this purpose there are many good books and textbooks. And one more important thing: One need to solve many tasks and examples, and then knowledge will turn into beliefs.
yes.keeping pace with technological advancement syllabus should be updated for the benefit of future generation.
Depending on the country, in my country there is need to change education system.
The question is correct. Everyone feels strongly about this subject. There are many seemingly good ideas. However, it's a very multi-faceted and country-specific problem. Numerous issues are coming from budgeting education, educational culture, educational goals, teachers' certification, program goals and requirements, etc.
The most important - there's always a wide spectrum of parent opinions, local authorities implementations, and government policies that are next to impossible to reconcile. The parents should do their utmost now, without waiting while a general consensus is reached. Chances are it won't happen for a long while.
I think yes, and the answer of @Len Leonid Mizrah is very enlightening!
Dear Hetal Bhinde ,
I agree with others that there's constant need for development in the educational system. However, change is not per se the objective. There are educational approaches that still work though they are centuries old.
But I strongly disagree that education should target to an early start into earning money. My impression is, that the tasks required now and in the future tend to make longer learning useful. The possible jobs for uneducated people shrink and to find a job now requires more often higher education.
Besides, I think education should net be seen just as an instrument to prepare people for the labor market. Additionally, it should help individuals to develop their abilities beyond what is considered useful from an economic perspective.
Best,
Thomas

I think yes. Specially in some countries (the unber developing countries).
I do not see the need for a change in educational system but rather modified to adhere to good morals with more emphasis on improving lives and solving basic problems that stems our society( more practically oriented....)
In some countries (esp. in the global South), there are not enough arrangements to acquire adequate formal education by the age of 18. Changing the system will require states and regional bodies to assess the outcomes of current systems and identify the needs for development. This may lead to the shortening of the number of years needed to acquire area-specific and specific education needed for national development.
We are constantly faced with one pedagogical reform after another - since Comenius. For each reform one should look over the borders and the conditions of school reform. There are also different traditions. Should the private school system dominate or the public school system? Should parents have a say in school and a choice of school for their children, or should educational equality prevail? Simply demanding school reform is not enough. A good example of the failure of reforms is the inclusion of disabled children in the public school system (which also means the dissolution of special schools). I have not yet read a report from any country where the humane aims of reform have actually been successfully achieved, but there are many other examples where reforms have begun and new problems have been created without solving the old ones. This is quite typical for some wealthy countries, not least Germany.
Hello Hetal
The school systems are usually a mirror of the related societies. In many countries, the former (and current) colonial states implemented a system of schools, that look very similar to the organization of many Armys in the world... we produce soldiers instead of sages.
The question of earning money is not a subject of a real “Education“, ee need everybody to be convinced snd i spired of what he is able to create for the prosperity of all. Think we need to change too our edication systems to real places of thinking, reflection, inspiration and respect
Development of technology has already revolutionised the system; System to change the direction to empower SELF;
Self to realise his/her needs;
how? where? when to synchronise & harmonise the resource available to him/her;
To balance internal motivation with external stimulation towards SELF ACTUALISATION.
Yes. In addition, more emphasis on the learning process and less on teaching; also greater focus on the method of learning to learn, to achieve significant learning, that is, important for life and not just to pass a course or a subject.
Also, relate the educational contents with ethical principles and moral values; matching theories with analogous (classroom) and equivalent (real life) practices.
Modern education system must incorporate essential life skills to ensure the success of the students in the practical life. These skills include : decision making skills, communication skills, task management, conflict management, anger management, psychological resource management, energy management skills, leadership skills etc. In addition the future job market will be looking for workers having : innovative and creative ideas, analytic thinking, both convergent and divergent thinking , presentation skills, capacity to work in a team , global and multicultural exposure etc. Our reformed education system need to address all the mentioned requirement for a better functioning society .
Hetal - Yes, there is a need to change education system today. World over education seems to be in crisis and students are not getting standard education, and struggling to find employment of their choice. Millions of students are victim of an unrealistic, pointless, mindless rat race. The mind numbing competition and rote learning do not only crush the creativity and originality of millions of students every year, it also drives brilliant students to get wasted. The need of the hour is to re-define the purpose of the education system and make education skill based, reward creativity, original thinking, research and innovation.
Third world countries have their own peculiar type of problems including problems related with malfunctioning education system. They should not follow blindly the models developed by advanced nations for resolving their issues in education system. There is need to cooperate in the field of educational research and allied disciplines , based on the specific social ,cultural and economic need of developing countries.
SELF provides THE KEY QUESTIONS for and from: self and others.
Communicating with SELF from within Self; Communicating with others:
I AM: who?; where?: what?; when?;
TO BE ME? where? when and what?
Conceptual differences across and cross within self and with others.
Development of technology revolutionised the COMMUNICATION and thinking EXPONENTIALLY; and also has changed the role of eduction from transferring belief through teaching to Transforming SELF through enabling self and enlightening inter-relatedness WHOISTICALLY, SPATIALLY & Personally: all in one , one in all: mtpyramid.weebly.com
Education system needs to learn : how to be updated with the needs of students.
Students need to transform themselves to their own capacity from within, due to the availabilities outside.
What do we mean by change ????
Transforming the system creates the changes needed, yet complementing positives.
It is a matter of great debate ie Course base Study / Project based study will
be started from BS to MS . But I prefer regular assessment of student in a semester rather than Exam based performance .
The situation is different in different countries. In Russia (then the USSR) there was a good education system, which of course had its drawbacks. But instead of evolutionary change in order to eliminate them, since the 1990s, it has been continuously “modernized.” As a result, the education system lost what it was, but did not acquire any merit. Now this "modernized" school produces quite a lot of functionally illiterate people. Therefore, many require a return to the old education system. As one Moscow professor said: "In Russia, an experiment is being provided to obtain higher education by people who do not even have an middle one." This is of course a bitter irony ...

I think we always have to be open to developing the education system based on new learning and future industrial requirements. For example I think we need to teach more on computing / coding for advancements in future technology. I think they should also teach about the economy and teach children the skills required in adulthood, such as personal finance management.
Education and personal development are constant EVOLUTION.

Yes there is a serious need to change the system to incorportate values and employability
There is obvious need for changes in education (I agree with previous comment on basic functional illiteracy of many people with diplomas), but it's not easy to describe those changes and to change education towards them. We saw several reforms during last decades (e.g. Bologna Declaration for HEIs), but these are rather administrative changes - not those in teaching and learning. From my point of view - teaching and learning should be changed (there were a lot of pseudo-innovations in these areas, such as: new methods (project method or problem based learning etc. these methods are very old), strategies (e. g. mind mapping etc.). (The only real innovation is connected with new technologies).
How to change teaching and learning towards 21st century skills? Do we really know to describe 21st century skills? In my opinion, we don't know those skills that will be important for no more than ten years. In that sense, it's necessary to rethink educational paradigm(s) ...

Obviously, we need a new education system. The digital age demands a new approach. For instance, generation Z shows rather different characteristics than X and Y generations. Changes are very fast, radical and unpredictable. So, the educational system has to change too.
Is it possible in the "consumerism society," where the golden calf rules supreme?
"On the other hand, in the community (and in the "scientific community" as its part), undrestanding is growing that the current situation is intolerable and can not continue. In poisoned spiritual atmosphere of the modern "consumer society" both science and religion are at risk of dangerous and unpleasant mutations. In both cases, the corporate interests of communities are beginning to dominate the "heart of the matter," to borrow the title of the famous novel by Graham Greene.
The response to these processes also often takes still more ugly forms. As a well-known example is the fuss over "torsion fields." Of course, by itself, the desire to go beyond the scope of modern physics is not culpable. Trouble is just in insufficient radicalism of this desire and unreasonable attempts to spread the spirit and methods of modern science in the "forbidden" area. Talking about consciousness as a "field form of matter", forgetting the whole spiritual experience of humanity, is to try to acquire and develop the worst in modern science - its incorrect claim to universality and globality. Dubiousness of experimental results and theoretical considerations is already inevitable consequence inadmissibility of such interpolations. The actual founder of the "torsion" direction Kozyrev (barely mentioned in the works of followers, that is typical too), seems to be based on some personal mystical enlightenment, which, unfortunately, under the influence of scientistic "Zeitgeist" were set out in inadequate "naturalistic" form. Now it is a thriving industry of show business, quite successfully competing in the "turnover" with the official Russian academic science. The latter, in turn, is too concerned about the problems of his prestige, and even physical survival, to really worry about any "spiritual dimension." As a result, the official "struggle against pseudoscience", despite the thoroughness of the prerequisites, is perceived by the society in the context of banal market showdown rather than as evidence of concern for the spiritual health of the country. Unfortunately, the same market taste is felt in the religious life, for example, in a really difficult and painful question of the relations of the various Christian denominations. However, even in the West, prosperous by our standards, concern about the attractiveness of the package (chewing gum, "spiritual exercises" or scientific results – on equal footing) has long pushed the concern for Truth. As for the actual (not declared) situation of religion, we restrict ourselves to relatively low-key quote from the "White Goddess" by R. Graves:
Though the West is still nominally Christian, we have come to be governed, in practice, by the unholy triumdivate of Pluto god of wealth, Apollo god of science, and Mercury god of thieves. To make matters worse, dissension and jealousy rage openly between these three, with Mercury and Pluto blackguarding each other, while Apollo wields the atomic bomb as if it were a thunderbolt; for since the Age of Reason was heralded by his eighteenthcentury philosophers, he has seated himself on the vacant throne of Zeus (temporarily indisposed) as Triumdival Regent." from http://lit.lib.ru/img/i/irhin_w_j/fenix-engl/fenix0.htm?fbclid=IwAR3giAV2VT9ryG5-X5AZI9vxlYkWM7dnihdco0r6dLuXL6rwjKYCoasitPc
Yes, change is needed in educational system. We need to go for more knowledge and applications oriented education system.

System can be only be changed when the philosophy on which the prevailing system is based, lost is credibility at the academic level, at the functioning level , at the societal expectation level, at the political level, and at the scholarly level etc. All the stakeholders in education must have complete consensus to abolish the prevailing system. And the most interesting part of the story is:Do we have a model of workable new system.what is the philosophy on which the new educations system will be based .who will provide guarantee that the new system will achieve its objectives.
No I do not think we have model.
No shape for BEING, what do you think about the Model?
Human being is viewed ad Linear or 2D. Materials have had shape and 3D's capacity, not the human being.
A longitudinal observational contextual study on children play, researcher explored the shape; multidimensionality; demonstrated inadequacy of Methods; further investigation revealed discrepancies on overt covert behaviour; followed further revelations in both health and education; followed series of unnecessary challenges within the Educational and Health Establishments.
For such reasons CASE_Studies seem to facilitate better access to information; avoid speculations; focus explorations; for tapping into the unexplored solutions.
However, what else can be done beyond the surface or promoting the system through development of HIGHER SELF, whoever; wherever; however & whatever possible.

Nothing changes in the habits, traditions, and prejudices of human societies quickly, moreover 'today' or 'overnight'. It is a slow, tedious process of augmenting contradictions, apparent deficiencies, insufficient efficiencies, clear misunderstandings, and controversial approaches and decision making processes. It's especially true for modernization in information production, dissemination, and utilization.
Look at a newspaper business - who's reading newspapers today? The times a newspaper was a common entertainment, and source of all news and advertisements is long gone. Nevertheless, huge and small newspapers are still fighting to preserve their place in business. Is the contemporary educational system adequate to the parents, society needs, professional and/or business requirements? The answer is definitely NO!!! Can it be change quickly ('today')? The answer is the same definitely NO!!!
First, new requirements ought to be clearly spelled out, and adapted by all respected society circles. Then, different pilot lines of more progressive forms of education to be budgeted launched and tested. New educational system elements have to be introduced and embedded into educational theory and practice literary daily and during a number of years, until a global fusible and tangible effect is reached.
Education is the basis for any success! Should we change the system ? I would say the education system should be based on the specialized interest of the individual. It is the period of specialized, personalized learning. I am hoping that the change in the system improvises the existing system and does not abolish!
Len Leonid Mizrah thank you for providing an elaborative roadmap for bringing a gradual and meaningful change in the education system. It is indeed a multidimensional project and needs to be addressed at many levels beginning from spelling the objectives by taking on board all the stakeholders, testing the proposed changes by carefully designing mini projects to establish the validity. This is an effective process of invigorating the current education system and bringing a positive change that is based on continuous learning by experimenting with the elements of new education system and establishing the credibility of the proposed recommendations.

Your proposed solution is to conduct case studies in order to explore the possibilities and speculations regarding the elements and functioning of the proposed education system.Well managed case studies on larger scale can be helpful in the establishment of much realistic objectives and expectations.
You are right is pointing out that
"what else can be done beyond the surface or promoting the system through development of HIGHER SELF"
I simplify add:
what else can be done beyond expectations, dreams and an instance need for change.
1.Simply elaborating the pitfalls of the exiting systems is not good enough
2. Simply highlighting the components and elements of a new system is not good enough
3. Simply hypothesizing the new system with ideal outcomes is good enough.
Len Leonid Mizrah system approach is one such option .We need more practical options to model the reality of the existing and the much needed new system of education.
1. Education may be intrinsic planetary boundary with respect to human development of society
2. Concurrent subject in India
3. Academic autonomy of academic fraternity always delivers performance
4. Transformation in Education with respect to innovation reinforce synergy
5. Separation of Primary Education , Higher Education & University along with Academician administration may transform education
"Education transforms society and vica versa"
Dear Muhammad Zubair has outlined insightful view which has covered major areas for transforming the existing system of EDUCATION. Wonderful, what about Health? Poverty? ......?
What is denied is INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES.
Existing system has missed " huge resources".
How can it be tapped into and taken advantage of?

Mehri Takhvar We do have wasted and are wasting invaluable human potential that can be used to reduce the suffering of world community. The diversity of human experiences and diversity in the abilities are assets that complement the excellence of human imagination and functioning in every aspect of life. The same diversity when experienced by teachers in classroom become highly problematic and our current education system has very little to say on this and many other issues of the same type.Your developmental model of self growth is an innovative approach that encompasses many important parameters that need to be tested and verified by case studies and other testing tools. The change requires that we should be tolerant and open to novel ideas ,share and discuss new approaches and boldly take on the challenge of testing and implementing the same in different social and cultural contexts..

To accomplish the desired change (reform) of education it should be context-related process. To achieve this, stakeholders and policy makers should consider many aspects, such as: improve the quality of education to sustain growth in the situation of fast population increasing and a difficult economic condition, reduce pressure on government spending by increasing value for money spent on education, reduce the financial load of education on families, advance equity in educational opportunities and performance, and enhance relations between the education system and the labor market to reduce the high rate of unemployment among youth.
