I recently read the following paper:

Froude and Petley (2018), Global fatal landslide occurrence from 2004 to 2016. NHESS, 18, 2161–2181. Perhaps not quite what you are looking for, but maybe you can use it somehow as a starting point for your search?

John F. Hiemstra Thanks for your quick reply. I think that's a good start to dig deeper. I am quite focussed on remote (high-latitude) regions where fatalaties are rather rare. So maybe somebody has more sources for other (big) non-fatal landslides.

It's really interesting that there seems to be a big gap in terms of consistent global landslide inventories. However, that also applies to a lot of important landscape features/processes.

I hope some GIS data would help you on this.

There are few american database where recent global level landslides (GLS) are cataloged and could be used for RS and GIS analysis.

GIS tools are very useful practice to evaluate the fatality of the GLS.
