Just to let you know,

Euromot is freely distibuting MWM's code (fortran code) to compute the methane number from the composition of natural gas.

ASTM is just about to accept the MWM MN as the standard calculation for natural gas fuels. I would use that one, as Jonas suggested. Every MN algorithm gives a bit different answer, with the differences being larger as the MN goes down.
