We are designing a survey asking dietetians/nutritionists in middle east to share their perspectives on common needs in practice, education and research specific to dietetics. We are searching for an ethics committee where we can submit our survey to for the necessary review for ethics. At this point we are being advised that we need to find an ethics committee in EACH country, but that doesn't seem reasonable for survey research which will likely be considered "exempt". Certainly if it were medical research with interventions this would be appropriate, but it doesn't seem right for survey research. (These are the countries involved: Afghanistan, Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syrian Arab Republic, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Turkey, Israel, Cyprus, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Somalia, West Bank and Gaza).
Can you recommend an ethics committee that would be deemed appropriate for this region of the world?
There is not any ethics committee for survey. However, you need to contact Pakistan Medical and Dental Council a regulatory body for medical education in Pakistan
I have concerns regarding those different versions of informed consent for participants in different languages and how to make sure the questionaires are the same as in English.

Thank you for your input and direction for who to contact in the various countries. We are planning to use a single version of English/Arabic content in the questionnaire. Both are shown simultaneously to reduce the likelihood that there is misunderstanding. In the pilot study we used a double translation --into Arabic and back into English to try to reduce possibilities of translation confusion. A limitation of the study will be the language restriction of participants to those who can understand either English or Arabic. We welcome other suggestions.
