saturated solubility of amorphous form may be similar to saturated solubility of crystalline form of the API. However, the dissolution rate of amorphous form is higher than the crystalline form dissolution rate. This assumption based on that the solubility is a thermodynamic property whereas the dissolution is a kinetic property. However, the saturation solubility of amorphous form may be higher than the crystalline saturation solubility. This though is based on that solid dispersion, as an example, contains hydrophilic polymers or surfactants leading to solubility enhancement. This is supported by that most of drugs is hydrophobic leading to wetting difficulty and consequently lower saturation solubility.
