I personally tried publishing in open access as well as in subscription journals. Compared to subscription journals, I found the review process of most open access journals shallower. Do you agree or disagree with that?
It is expected but some of the well established open success journals maintain a very rigorous review process. Already many open access journals which do not maintain good reviewing standards for the sake of making money have been wound up.
Some open access journals maintain similar kind of rigorous peer review process of subscription based journals. However, many open access journals tend to compromise the review process for obvious reasons. Their aim is to make a good profit from authors. Promotion of open access policy multiplied the number of predatory journals. The quality of peer review process is subsequently degraded.
