Magnetostriction, especially if it is intrinsic, is a sure sign of the magneto-elastic coupling in any magnetic material. Magnetoelastic coupling is quite prominant in manganites: see for example PRB 77, 212403 (2008), JPCM 21, 126003 (2009), JPCM 24, 336003 (2012). These results are however for external magnetostriction giving rise to lattice strains and they can be measured rather easily. However the internal magnetostriction manifested by the shifts of atomic positions resulting in changes in bond distances and angles are more difficult to measure. High resolution X-ray with synchrotron radiation or high resolution neutron diffraction measurements are very helpful. For multiferroic manganites we have employed flipping ratio measurements with polarized neutrons to measure very small shifts that lead to ferroelectric polarization. But these measurements are highly specialized.
You should give the details of the samples you wish to investigate and the methods you employ. General statements are not very useful and can be found in textbooks and literature.
