Multiferroics, simultaneously exhibiting (Anti)ferromagnetic and ferroelectric order, offer the capability of four stage memory and voltage controlling magnetic states through a magnetoelectric (ME) coupling and vise-versa. They not only generate emergent physics, but also can be used in novel technological applications such as fast-writing, power-saving, and nondestructive data storage. Several multifarious materials have been investigated. These can be divided in to two categories, they are either with strong ME coupling with weak electric polarization like in TbMnO3 or are weak ME coupling with good electric polarization like in BiFeO3 . This property becomes a hindrance to their applied nature.

Can we discuses here, what are the key scientific challenges, emerging trends and the prospects of the future directions in the field of multiferroics.
