Is the initial use of a cutting tip needle for lumbar puncture acceptable when an atraumatic tip needle is available?

Atraumatic needles have a significantly lower incidence of Post Dural Puncture Headache. Many healthcare professionals continue to use a cutting tip as first choice. Why is this accepted?
