In the linear economy model the economies use raw materials lavishly and got processed into products and is thrown away after use. In a circular economy, the approach is to close the cycles of all the raw materials we use. Passionate approach of achieving higher and higher growth rate and linear economic approaches has led to the over use of natural resources, practicing of throw away culture etc has led to serious damages to the environment. Reports say that 'lockdowns' in various countries has cleaned the environment and the ecosystem is gaining power in its self defense mechanism against the pandemic novel corona virus.
Yes, the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) coronavirus pandemic increased the importance of achieving the goals of sustainable development and increased the scale of general social awareness of pro-environmental. People became more interested in a healthy lifestyle, they began to consider the issue of relations between man and the surrounding natural environment to a greater extent, relations with nature, the issue of sustainability, and restoring the balance between the development of civilization and the biosphere and climate of the planet Earth. On the other hand, during the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) coronavirus pandemic, the level of economic activity decreased and the demand for raw materials, including raw materials for classic energy based on burning fossil fuels, decreased. During the first wave of the pandemic, reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and environmental pollution were noticed in many industrialized, urbanized, transformed, etc. places. There was an opportunity to accelerate the pro-ecological transformation of the economy, including the pro-ecological transformation of the energy sector through the development of zero-emission energy based on renewable energy sources. The possibilities of implementing the principles of sustainable development, the implementation of pro-ecological activities taking into account social environmental (ecological) responsibility, creating and implementing eco-innovations in economic processes, etc. have increased. Therefore, the Coronavirus pandemic created conditions for accelerating the processes of pro-ecological transformation of the traditional brown economy into a sustainable green economy / circular economy, however, unfortunately, these opportunities were not used. As part of anti-crisis, interventionist programs of socio-economic, fiscal, budgetary and monetary policy, public financial aid was offered to economic entities operating in various industries and sectors of the economy, regardless of whether they acted pro-ecologically or not. The aim of the aforementioned public financial aid consisting in supporting commercially operating companies and enterprises was to activate economic processes and limit the scale of unemployment growth. As part of the anti-crisis socio-economic policy, the goals of sustainable development and the possibilities of accelerating the processes of building a sustainable, green circular economy were ignored. The aim was to activate economic processes, regardless of whether certain economic entities implement eco-innovations and strive to achieve the goals of sustainable development or not.
