CIA publishes a world factbook annually. it has brief and helpful information and statistics about all countries. How CIA collect these information? and are it's statistics accurate?
*May be this is a way to guidance and propel the world!?
In fact, It's a controversial question. In my point of The factbook is a kind of forecast.
forecast results may be passively accepted, which might lead to one outcome, or that they might be vigorously opposed, which might lead to another outcome. Thus, forecasts can’t necessarily be compared to reality to ascertain their validity. Hence, self-fulfilling prophecies would look good, whereas self-defeating ones would look bad. Forecasts of recession might lead to recession, whereas forecasts of high energy prices and shortages have been known to lead to surpluses and falling prices. Forecasts may also be used to affect an outcome, which Robinson (1992) calls the theory of "deliberate feedback". An environmental group may forecast low electricity demand growth while opposing a new nuclear power plant, while the electricity industry planning the plant may forecast much higher electricity demand growth. These phenomena as well as the types of models used should be considered when interpreting forecasts.
All in all, I'm not optimistic about the factbook.
