I'm planning to apply tACS on the scalp in corrispondence of two different cortical areas by using a multi-channel device (Enobio/Starstim, neuroelectrics) . Thus, I will use three electrodes, two "active" and one "return", but I'm wondering whether the value of the current intensity might be devided between the two "active" electrodes. For example, is 2mA of amplitude splitted in 1mA for active electrode 1 and 1mA for active electrode 2.?
May you suggest any work where I could find information about this issue?

If one output is divided must surely yes. Must adequte will be to have to independent outputs from the equipment. I understood there are some with many channels. But finally placing many electrodes sources and sinks will produce a comolex current distribution in the brain.

Therefore if I correctly understood, the answer is yes (?). The device I'm using consist of a current deliver module to which 9 channels for electrodes are attached via wires. Therefore, two electrodes will be applied in two different positions of the scalp (the "active ones") and the third over a neutral area (the "return") for a cephalic montage.
Yes if you have many independent channels no doubt each one is going to have its own precisely delivered current. Then spread of current in the cranium and brain will be complex.
