I also believe that  conceptions of 'epsilon-near-zero’, ‘mu-near-zero’ medium and 'nihility' meduim are fundamentally the same. At the same time, I've never seen use of the term 'nihility' when discussing resonant states in surface waves. In the paper [M. I. Kaganov, T. I. Shalaeva, Resonant Polaritons,

 Уважаемый Владимир,   не буду заниматься искажающим мысли переводом  на английский язык, надеюсь, что Вы русским владеете.

Судя по статье “Nihility” автором Akhlesh Lakhtakia вводится из непосредственного рассмотрения понятий "вакуум" и "анти вакуум";  эфиродинамики называют это состояние эфиром и пытаются строить модели этого вакуума заполненного кинематическими средами. На самом же деле, по моим представлениям “Nihility” - это Нуль Пространство не достижимое или асимптотически достижимое.

Н о, главное: - микрочастицы Мира и Античастицы находятся в состоянии "замороженности"- неподвижности. (отсюда и реальный космический вакуум близок к абсолютному нулю).

Математически эту мысль можно понять из рассмотрения зависимости понятия обобщённого коэффициента фрактальности от линейной шкалы "k",  где в полюсе первого рода при к=1 (ото означает, что циклическое время в этой тчке равно нулю) асимптотически сходятся кривые "Микромира" и Микро Антимира".

К сожалению обсуждение данного вопроса с точки зрения "7D Пространства-времени" находится вне моего научного опыта. Могу только высказать мое мнение с точки зрения классической электродинамики.

Я согласен с Вами, что “Nihility” - это Нуль Пространство асимптотически достижимое, так как Akhlesh Lakhtakia вводит это определение для СРЕД БЕЗ ПОТЕРЬ, постулируя в материальных уравнениях Максвелла эпсилон и мю равными нулю, что противоречит принципу причинности.

Далее с учетом потерь вводятся определения "chiral-nihility" и "gyrotropic-nihility" сред у которых вещественные части эпсилон и мю равны нулю, а параметры гиротропии нет. Для таких сред, очевидно, принцип причинности выполняется. Однако здесь возникает вопрос о том, корректно ли использовать термин “Nihility”  в этих случаях (хотя при этом я сам его широко использую :)   )

С другой стороны, Nader Engheta ввел термины 'epsilon-near-zero’ and ‘mu-near-zero’ для описания тех же состояний, что определяются nihility, и которые выглядят менее противоречиво. 

По сути эти два термина несут одинаковую смысловую нагрузку, хотя при этом  “Nihility” спекулятивно претендует на некую "мировую фундаментальность" (по крайней мере в электродинамике).

Dear Dr. Melnikov,

Unfortunately the discussion of this issue in terms of "7D space-time" is beyond my scientific experience. I can only express my opinion in terms of classical electromagnetics.

I agree with you that "Nihility" - is a zero-space which is asymptotically attainable since Akhlesh Lakhtakia introduces this term for a LOSSLESS medium, postulating in constitutive Maxwell equations epsilon and mu equal to zero, which is contrary to the principle of causality.

Further, taking into account the losses terms "chiral-nihility" and "gyrotropic-nihility" media are introduced in which the real part of epsilon and mu are equal to zero while the gyrotropy parameters are nonzero. For such media, obviously, the principle of causality can be performed. But here the question arises, is it correct to use the term "Nihility" in these cases (although I did use it extensively :) )

On the other hand, Nader Engheta introduced the terms 'epsilon-near-zero' and 'mu-near-zero' to describe the same states that are determined by "nihility", and which seems to be less controversial.

In fact, these two terms shall have the same meaning, although the "Nihility" speculative claims to be "the fundamental nature of the world" (at least in the electromagnetics).

Поэтому “Nihility”, считаю корректным термином и в пониманиях “Nihility” - это Нуль Пространство достижимое только асимптотически  (небытие,

I think, in electromagnetic nihility media are strange yet. The have simultaneously zero values of both permittivity and permeability, and electromagnetic waves cannot penetrate through these media, as epislon =0 and mu =0. While epsilon-near-zero and mu-near-zero are achievable media. So, term nihility cannot be used in epsilon-near-zero and mu-near-zero mediums.
