I am sometimes confused as to whether students are engaged with understanding the subject content and applying it or by learning to use a new tech tool to facilitate learning in technology enhanced classes? Your views are welcomed.
Teachers should be able to differentiate between “novelty” and “engagement”; they often look the same at the beginning, but one will quickly fade.

Technology has definite space in enhancing learning. But it is up to the teacher to identify the right process before declaring it useful.
Things that captivates the students through technology is the visualization outcome that is realized in the computer screen rather than their content. This motivates them to perform more than to put efforts through reading or writing.
The learning performance in student's is bridged by effective projection and communication / presentation skills.
