As far as I know on SPI that it is calculated on monthly and yearly basis. However, we we consider floods your time scale is shorter in terms of hours. So, I do not think it can help. See the site below, it can may be useful for you as well.

Sir Thanks for the Comment , I am using it for year 1950 to 2009, that too for more than 10 stations & will work out on monsoon season mean of the study area. Pl suggest some inputs from your side
It seems your data is yearly rainfall and that is why I think it can not be used for flood analysis. In flood analysis you need data for the period of storm or at least daily rainfall. Do you have such data?

I have taken data from a single station in my study area for the above said period which is daily rainfall data , & extension I am adding ten more stations now to see the variation in the SPI for my study area, Pl comment
