I need to collect a maximum of information on projects dealing with reduction of silver eel mortality at hydroelectric facilities by the method of catch & transport. All information collected will be shared with all contributors afterwards.

I think every silver eel caught and saved is one, but during high flows fykes cannot be operated and still a lot of eels disappear into turbines. Turbine manangement is also done, but the impact is very low.
In Sri Lanka we don't have, silver eel, but we have two spp of Anguilla (nebulosa and bengalensis), Their numbers in rivers were very high before the construction of trunk stream hydro-power dams. Now it has declined to a greater extent. Still elvers try to go upstream. I don't believe in that the eels are going through turbines, because most of the high dams are deep and anoxic after about 20 meter depth. Water release for power generation is from deeper layers in many cases. It is very unlikely eels to swim towards the turbines.
Besides work done on technical solutions by Olle Calles at the Karlstad University, most Trap & Transport in Sweden is based on eels caught in commercial fisheries (using big pound nets) in upstream lakes and subsequently released downstream the last hydropower station in that drainage. Last years T&T was about 20 tons, corresponding to some 20 000 silver eels.
Re Sri Lanka, both species mature and become silver and such findings are described in eg WICKSTRÖM, H. and ENDERLEIN, O.
