I am just not interested in using M-code of 3000 lines to waste my time. Does simulink has the required capability to handle complex computation when it comes to control theory? I have done my master thesis in backstepping last decade based on simulink and I used very few lines in M-file using workspace.
Nowadays, Simulink offers powerful tools to carry out control applications. Moreover, You can use Matlab Function to write additional code and runs inside Simulink.
What you mean "complex computation"? If you are trying to do calculations with complex numbers - yer, certainly! If you have thought about something else - please, be clear.
I use the Backstepping control for my phD too and I work only with Simulink. This is practical for simulation and real time implementation too. Regards.
Yes, Simulink can handle the computational load of complex controllers. Now, let me mention that on simulating sliding mode controller, the computational speed of Simulink is affected by chattering phenomenon due the switching term in control input. The chattering depends upon the gain of the switching term. So more the switching gain, more the chattering, more the computational time. Other than this, it works fine with MPC.
Please do not pose rhetorical questions. In particular, Matlab was build to solve control problem. However, if you consider, e.g., some control problems of electronic systems then use of Matlab may become problematic if they work in the high frequency mode. So this tool is not universal and the word MOST used in the question is the right word.
