For a synthesis I need a silver derivative that is soluble in ethanol. Does anyone have any experience on how well silver citrate hydrate or silver acetylacetonate dissolve in ethanol? It is needed for a complex formation.
Do you really need to have it in EtOH? If you aren't careful you're probably going to oxidise the EtOH into MeCHO and/or HOAc since I'm assuming you need an Ag(I) species. Merck says nothing more than silver citrate being soluble in 3500 parts RT water, and silver lactate being only slightly soluble in ethanol. What complexation are you trying to achieve, if you don't mind my asking?
