what type of training do current corporate leaders need to be motivated for servant leadership style ? is it possible for all business leaders to practice this ?
Servant leadership is not a new concept; its has been around for centuries much before Greenleaf formalized it 70s. It is a leadership concept that claims that leaders should first develop the feeling to serve others and then make a conscious choice to be a leader. Several studies have demonstrated that servant leadership indeed shows positive outcomes in work environment. Improved work environment is good mediator of improved outcomes.
However, leadership is much more complex concept than what servant leadership, or for that matter any other leadership models claim it to be. Just like other leadership models, servant leadership is also not a universal theory that will bring positive outcomes in every situation and every place. Leadership is highly contextual and a successful leader picks and chooses elements from all leadership models which best suits his context.
Thats the reason why it will never be used in EVERY organization around the world in its entirety.
