ENR posses high polar group contents possibly due to the random epoxidation of polyisoprene backbones. Partial ring opening of epoxide group can contribute to OH group formation and thus able to make hydrogen bonding to a surface. This behavior is also responsible for its higher adhesion strength in comparison with polyisoprene. Is this hydrogen bonding reversible?
