The Central Governor Model (CGM) is probably one of the most important and controversial theories in Exercise Science. I should recognize that this theory helped me to better understand Exercise Physiology and the complexity of the fatigue phenomenon during my early academic years. However, this theory would present some important flaws as the most criticized cardiovascular/anaerobic model. Some of these limitations are epistemological. My arguments are presented in form of a letter (attached) I previously sent to BJSM with regard to an interesting brief essay. Unfortunately, this letter was not considered for publication. Any comments and suggestions are welcome.
