As we know the energy sector is giving much attention to Renewable energy sources since they are clean and inexhaustible. However they are intermittent in nature and require smart power electronics devices for their sustainable operation. Now a days Semiconductor devices with high efficiency and capable of working at high switching frequencies(less filter size and weight) like SiC are coming in to the market and they are improving the power system in terms of efficiency ,smartness and flexibility .However Power electronics devices are also the main sources of electromagnetic interference and harmonics. There is always a debate on power electronics devices.
What is your opinion please? Any comments are welcome
I think power electronics is a boon for renewable energy resources. Try to look from a higher perspective, instead of looking into component level. Without power electronics, It will be almost impossible to control active and reactive power flows and, to do so many other things. Intermittency always exists in renewables, but the power electronic converters allow to harness energy in the most efficient manner (using maximum power point tracking).
However, there are issues such as harmonic distortion but most modern power electronic converters have a very low value of it. So, looking at pro and cons, I can only see huge improvement in power electronic sector.

There is a significant development in Power Electronics. However, there are many things to do, the first problem is poor clean energy exploitation in most of the world, reduce pollution, deploy the smart grid in the world, and developing these capabilities including power electronics to make them less expensive and more economical than conventional energies.
