It depends how you view Art. Physics may well relate to the technique of making art, but it does not relate to directly to the conception of great art, which comes from the emotions. The problem with a term like Art is that it is as broad or narrow as you wish. Everything man-made is designed by someone, and if you include design in Art, then that's all man-made objects, and then perhaps, in one sense, the greatest art of all is nature - so now you have the whole of life in art.
Yes, in several different ways: Laws of motion and fluid dynamics relate to painting, gravity affects the creation of sculpture. Many artists from Durer & DaVinci to British artist R. Hiornes who poured thousands of gallons of copper sulfate into an abandoned flat and after a while the floors, ceiling & floors were covered with blue crystals. Natalie Miebach who uses weather data to create both sculpture and music. The Spanish artists María Castellanos & Alberto Valverde created the Environment Dress that monitors the atmosphere. Hope these examples are useful.
I believe Physics and Arts are related. Physics, Physika is the knowledge of nature, natural sciences or philosophy. On the other hand art is fine art, artwork, etc., in the various branches of creative activity, such as painting, music, literature, and dance. These two seemingly different disciplines may seem differen, but they are closely related. Case in point, the production of sound or music would require acoustic physics, and the design, production, and operation of architecture certainly requires good building physics, mathematic, art, etc. Most designs are hybrid activities involving arts, science, and mathematics.
The physicist sets out to break "nature" down into its component parts to analyze the relationship of those parts. This process is principally one of reduction. The artist often juxtaposes different features of reality and synthesizes them. The novelist Vladimir Nabokov wrote, "There is no science without fancy and no art without facts."
There is science in every form of art and conversely, there is art in every form of science, together they constitute the unified perception and understanding of the nature and its principles.
If you look at often quoted syllogism: "....Art imitates life and life imitates art...", well physics logically connects science with life. In a sense, physics relates to art.
Theoretical physics ties to a kind of art, the experimental one to a handwork. The logic presentation of physics is the principal work of university lecturers. From this viewpoint considered, physics is an art. Applied physics, being performed in the labs and companies, is definitely a handcraft. It is highly polarized discipline, like, for example, medicine, that can not be as well uniquely attributed to.
Yes, theoretical physics - and much more - mathematical physics are both fine arts. By the way, mathematical physics is NOT A PHYSICS at all, it is more or less pure mathematics. The real physics is predominately the experimental science, the technical physics smells on oil. The logical structure of the equations plays no role, important is the understanding of deep nature of the rough things you held in your hands.
Yes. Both the physicist and the artist try to understand and interpret the world around them. Physicists use art to help them visualize abstract aspects of the physical world. Artists in turn use physics to understand, utilize and experiment with their materials.
I have a great deal of trouble understanding how this group of individuals can understand such an issue since I doubt that any of them is or has been an artist. I'm sorry if I misspeak about anyone in particular but just read the above comments. I'm an artist and still am in many different ways. I took leave from Science and went to art school when I was 50 years old. I'm the type that looks ahead and seldom is bothered with moves such as this. I'd say that very few outstanding artists know about or care about science -colors, how the eyes perceive colors etc, but that's not always been the case in the past. Any transfer of thoughts etc usually goes one way the scientists seem to learn from the artists but hardly ever does anything go the other way. Why? The answer is simple-nothing in Science can compare with a woman's body something that is an exceptionally wonderful experience once you're serious about drawing. The reason that this is a good experience to have doesn't come to light until you begin.. anyone who views anyone's works can identify errors, it's something that we all know right down to our bones. No one needs ta have an opinion because everyone already knows the correct answers.I really love Science and couldn't stay away for very long, Certainly these areas are different its hard to paint realism in all of its glory from a theoretical model. I'm still learning from my art activities but they can never provide the intellectual excitement that can't live without that's offered by Science. I'd suggest that your comparisons shouldn't be "good guesses" because things are so different that anyones guesses ( I'd suggest theorizing) should realize that are missing out some wonderful experiences go to figure drawing class and see for yourself!! According to my point of view, Physics and the arts are in many ways they are one and the same. Together the physicist and the artist try to understand and interpret the world around them. They must visualize, experiment, explore and eventually share their findings. Although they may go about it in different ways, they both must understand the nature and properties of matter and energy. Though here I focus primarily on the visual arts, the musical and performance arts are also very closely related to physics in that they utilize and have to understand the power of sound, space, and time etc.
Totaly agreed with you Muzammal Hameed Tariq. In fact, I actually work on this topics : space, movement, light, view, senses related to installations and performing arts.
If the physicist works as an ordinary scientist, it is not very connected. But the higher the level of the scientist, the closer the connection. Outstanding physicists, creators of the modern physical picture of the world - worked as outstanding masters not only of science, but also of art. In addition, physics is associated with everything, including art, so everyone uses physical objects and fields in their fields of activity.
