I am trying to dissolve PCL in ethanol by heating at 65 degree C but it looks strange. I have also to dissolve PCL in Toluene, Methanol and Methylethyl Ketone. Is PCL also dissolvable in those solvents? Please give a suitable procedure.
PCL is soluble in chloroform, dichloromethane, carbon tetrachloride, benzene, toluene, cyclohexanone and 2-nitropropane at room temperature. It has a low solubility in acetone, 2-butanone, ethyl acetate, dimethylformamide and acetonitrile and is insoluble in alcohol, petroleum ether and diethyl ether.
Does anyone know if there are differences in the solubility of PCL 80000 and PCL 45000 in acetonitrile? Is PCL 45000 more solubile than PCL 80000 in acetonitrile? It's very important for me. Thanks
Thanks for the reply. I asked because by doing the crosslinking tests, the samples with PCL 80000 did not get damaged, while those with PCL 45000 withdrew and became transparent. Then looking on an article I read that they had made tests with PCL 16000 and PCL 64000 and they had noticed that PCL 16000 was slightly soluble in acetonitrile instead of PCL 64000.
So I thought it might be related to the molecular weight, but I'm not sure.
