Many factors need to be considered by producers when taking into account the economic feasibility of converting to organic production. Often, within the first few years, yields might be reduced. If your region is not suited to organic production this will also increase financial risks. There may be reduced costs involved in relation to not having to purchase chemicals, however, there may be increases related to the cost of organically certified inputs such as feed, organic fertilisers and segregation.

Your question makes a lot of sense. However, organic production should not be compared with economic production using chemicals and fertilizers. I am seeing a trend of more and more people are leaning towards organic products and the demand is on the rise.
Individuals who are concerned for the environment and have the ability to pay are moving strongly towards organic products. Awareness on organic products are on the rise. Thanks to the technology and social media.
Having said all the above, at this juncture, it may look like organic production is not viable, but certainly it is the direction for the future and definitely it will become viable for soon.
Individuals like us need to play our part in promoting this good initiative by farmers and individuals.
Certainly, we do not want our children and our loved ones to have cancer and all other possible diseases infiltrated through the use of pesticides in the economic production.

In my opinion organic crop production is economicaly feasible. In the intial period of crop production the yield will be less ( so will profit be) BUT as the soil organic carbon content increase we can notice that the yield level increasing gradually (so will the trend of profit).

When we see the word “organic” on food labels in supermarkets, the food ought to has been grown without using synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilizers or genetically modified organisms or chemical food additives.
The first impression of people is that this food must be healthy & more tasty. Well, have science & people proved that by standard testing ?
Many years ago, I bought vegetables grown by conventional ways & "organic" vegetables in Europe to find out no differences in tastes.
To accept "organic" production does not necessarily mean getting rid of , e.g. , chemical fertilizers. Most plants are selective in their intake of elements upon fertilization. The few plants, which are non-selective, need research to modify them.
When pesticides or insecticides are applied on plants, many of us know that we can avoid harm if we eat them several days after treatment plus good washing with water.
There are genetically modified fruits & vegetables in the market. There is a need for clear-cut proofs that they are harmful for the consumers so as they avoid them.
Organic production can become economically feasible but there has to be a huge effort to go into this direction.
