During this time of COVID-19, do you think that providing on-line training for oil and gas company is better than postponing all training activities for some months?
I will not make an opinion lightly, it depends on the subject to face and the urgency that requires it. However, the on-line training is going to be implemented in the short term as an answer of the Covid-19 in many organisations and institutions. The uncertainty of the future is pushing us to make it now, with the aim to avoid to stop any activity related with L&D. It will be better to build an on-line atmosphere in our organisations as soon as possible.
Utilizing online training is crucial at this time and preferred to postponement in most cases. However, we can not assume that quality training is converted to online. It's a good time to scientifically monitor online training approaches and discern effectiveness. The online training field has largely relied on satisfaction surveys rather than retention studies. This is a good time to produce the latter.
Often online training alone is not enough if you just mean access to information, exercises, assessments via the internet. If however, you combine this with remote learning using video conferencing it can be very effective. At LeaderShape Global, we integrate online modules with remote (eg Zoom) cohort team coaching and facilitation to enable participants to discuss the new content n the context of their roles in the workplace and then set themselves goals to practice new skills in the workplace before discuss the learning of such practice next time the cohort meets. We call this Blended Learning and have been doing it for over 10 years. See https://www.leadershapeglobal.com/blended-learning-2
I would like to announce that I am working now on an initiative for on-line training inside my company that will start soon and maybe evolved to be a complete training platform ready to support the knowledge management even after COVID-19. That is based on your encourage feedback.
Actually, the results of a question and the impact of the answers are what we are doing here so that I want to thank you again.
