Is nanotechnology a soluton to remove heavymetal from water?

Madam,

I think u may know about use of nano particles for removal or inactivation of heavy metals present in contaminated water or waste water. Especially, zero valent nano iron particles for cadmium and nickel decontamination. But i am not sure about sustainability of this technology for long term.
