Together with my colleague Hannu Kivijärvi we developed a model to explain IT project success. It consists of four levels, three of which are outside of IT project context. Our motivation came from a research idea according to which more insight could be gained by looking at It projects in their environmental context. The levels of the model are IT project, IT, organization and environment. The model is able to explain close to 50 % of IT project performance. What do you think
This area in my view is more researched. Objective of this research is also fundamental to software engineering. It would be nice if you could delve more into your model and elaborate on what does 50% mean?
In statistical analysis 50 % refers to R2 = 0.5. The actual R2 for project outcomes was a little under 0,5 as you may find from our hicss paper. We used PLS based SEM to analyze the model with 249 survey responses
