is mitophagy a subtype of autophagy?
after reading papers I still do not get a clear anxwer. Some reported that with the increase of overall autopahgy, mitophagy also increases. However, other argued that these two are actually competing each other.
any one can clarify this?

Mitophagy is a form of autophagy in which the organelle being degraded is the mitochondrion.

One more question, mitophagy is viewed as a protective mechanism to cells and CCCP is a specific mitophagy inducer. So it looks that CCCP-induced mitophagy should be good to cells. However, the fact is that CCCP is toxic to cell viability.
How to understanding CCCP induced mitophagy on cell fate?

CCCP is an uncoupler, which is used to induce a chemical hypoxia model of mitophagy, to help understand the disorders that may arise from mitophagy , and device treatment modalities that could help in the cure of diseases like Parkinsons. CCCP mitophagy is not used for its therapeutic potential right now.
