Profession is a historical and well thought of occupational category in society which is a result of complex manifestation of the class, cast, race, income and status. An attempt is made in this paper to examine the popular conception about management as a profession. Questions are raised to sensitize practicing managers about the status and image of the managers and management profession.
Article Management practice towards professionalism
I think the current management tools are not enough.
Try today, the organizations must manage a manager, that besides the management training should have some political and social formation.
Or what would be even better, form groups for transdisciplinary ceiertas managing complex organizations.
There are some elements of professionalism because there are basics which managers should simply know or be capable of. But, I think that professionalism is still quite low because actually most of these things that should be known are never tested within companies. So, while we assume professionalism, we very often do not have it.
What else could it be than a profession? A science? Not really.
An art? Maybe to some degree because things do change. There is not one truth, and there seldom is one right way of doing things.
So, my answer would be that while there is a professional layer within management, it is also a form of art or fashion.
