Is it reliable to use distilled water or double distilled water at the place of deionized water?
Deionization does not remove molecular species (e.g., sugar) or uncharged organic particles (most bacteria, viruses).

detail about their substitution are discussed in detail;
Double distilled water seems to be the "cleaner" option since only pure water is received from the distillation process and all (!!) high-boiling compounds, not only the charged ones, remain in the bottoms of the still.
Thanks sir
