Dear Theodora, I hope not. In my personal life I have experienced that the over smart, over clever people might get their way in some things but God has this very tricky system where everything is balanced somehow. Such people may be winning in some cases but its balanced when they lose in other more important areas of their lives while the simpler lot may be loosing the visible game but generally have a more fulfilling life.

"Good people", "nice guys (or gals)", "finish last" ... maybe :) but do not forget that " the last will be first, and the first last."

This may be look true initially, but in today's market oriented world, the quality finally speaks for itself.

One may steal honey form beehive, but cant steal bee's art of making honey.

Well, probably yes. Good people care more about general interests than their own interests. And this put them in disadvantage in comparison with bad people who act exactly opposite. Moreover, good people usually have strict moral codes which prevent them to use dirty tricks in order to gain advantages for them.

In this context I have allways liked this example, set years ago by those 300 Spartians who fought at Thermopylae. They knew they had no chance to survive, but they didnt retreat, because they had good reason to fight and moral code to support that. Of course they had been trained for it, but those 4000 of Greek soldiers who joined them there were on average common citizens with just basic fighting skills. And they did exactly the same.

There is some hope in it for all.

Some people, due to their great kindness and in fear that they may hurt someone - in anyway- they do not decide to take some actions, which actions, they could easily take and become what we call first, because of their ¨weakness¨ they seem to be last. Although, if we deeply examine this , we will discover that sometimes people who seem to be last, are actually far more first, from those who suppose to be first!

Excuse me for my poor English I hope you can understand what I mean.

I liked this very much If their work is of the highest quality, they will be asked for more, and what they create will be treasured. They will be remembered for exceptional work.

But, the problem that sometimes those working hard, and doing brilliant job, if they do not have support they might end up at the wrong place at the wrong time, and be damaged!?

I think that right people must do what they have to do with consciousness, without looking to being first or last. If they do good job or/and good matter, they will be recognized for it in future 'or near'. Even if they are not recognized by others, there is the supra power in heaven who will recognize it and will get them success. What is the added value to those who want to be first by any mean??? there is an end to every thing and may be their fruitful recognition or first place will be forgotten , only their good action/matter/job remains....

Researching at a large university in the Humanities, we are always the last to be funded IF AT ALL. Recently I was denied funding to publish in the most highly regarded university press of North America, but decided not to pass up the chance. Now the reviews of my book are coming in.... We shall see if the "good" (meaning more or less competent) finish last. To be continued....
