Dear all,

In the Chronicle of Higher Education there was an article that is interesting? How to Fix the Adjunct Crisis - The full article can be reached on the following link:

So, what is your understanding of an Academic (tenured or adjunct).

I have re-shared the above article on my Linkedin with the following comment:

Great but this is reality and the educated are the least considered for higher pay as we like what we do -of course we like what we do but this should not be used against academics but they should be looked at differently as an asset to the country and not to be the last in the pay range - though it is unfair but it would be more unfair for these highly educated to become unemployed in a system that only rewards the normal jobs and recognizes the start ups rather than the educated . Unfortunately the social security system does not take into account how to accommodate or reemploy the educated - with all due respect to all other jobs and careers but those would find it easier to deal with the system than the highly educated. So, the long story short the academics will continue to work under unfair system until the whole system in the country changes to take into account the huge number of highly educated who are struggling on the low income and tough conditions.

Are there any suggestions on how we can improve this situation of the highly educated, unfairly treated academics. Is there a way that the pay be higher, the social security system take into account the highly educated people, if and when those individuals are in need for support from the social system (to find a new job, or be supported until they find a new job), which does not seem to be the case.

Thank you for contributing to this question.
