if start using the subset of antennas , you are going to reduce the spatial resolution of DOA or AOA. But subset of antennas are used to get better averaging effects to control the amount of noise
I want to ask a simple but quite basic question in antenna selection.
I am confused about the taxonomic standing of the antenna selection techniques in MIMO. I know from the basic theory of MIMO that these systems are of two types. They provide the spatial multiplexing features (sending different bit streams from different antennas) , or spatial diversity features (sending multiple copies of the same signal from different antennas).
Now, I want to know that in which category does the antenna selection falls?
Also, I have some informative knowledge of the space time block/trellis coding techniques used in MIMO. I know their purpose is to improve reliability by sending multiple but encoded copies of the same signal. Hence, they fall in spatial diversity category.
