The 5 engines have cylinder displacement below than 50cc. These small engine usually used for grass cutter or in America name is brush cutter.The lubricant and fuel test need more than one engines in the experiment to verify the data and result. Then, the number of engine need to do experiment is 5 engines. So these 5 engines need a test rig for easier to handle the experiment.
Yes it is possible with a software that has to read dc motor speed to control the desired speed. in this case you need separate control for each engine. Although engines are identical in function behaves differently. Research should focus on a parameter analyzed: speed, exhaust oxygen level, etc.
In general it is possible. The combustion engines have to be connected via clutch and transmission with the test rig main shaft and the DC-motor. Make sure, that the conditions are the same for all tested motors. If you just test the lubricant and fuel, it might be sufficient to adjust the same carburettor postion (throttle position) of all engines, so that the engine load points are similar. The engine speed is the same because of the connected transmission. You could evaluate the syncron operation of the 5 motors by monitoring the fuel consumption of each motor (it should be the same value).

To test the lubricant part a cam shaft could connect the engines to the motor. For the fuel test I would use a series of friction clutches between segments of cam shaft connecting the engines to the DC motor - just in case they don't go with the same RPM.
