I wanted to study 'The compatibility between teachers' teaching styles and their learners' preferred learning styles.' However, in a classroom, it is true that every learner has his/her own preferred learning style/s unique and meaningful to him/her. So, how can ONE teacher address all these individuals different styles is a question my supervisors always ask me. Or is there any means to study the issue, perhaps, by considering the majority, if not each students' learning styles? Or what? Please I need a detailed explanation and future directions on this.

The learning styles seem interesting because they echo Witkin's cognitive styles. However, while the idea is appealing, it does not seem to be experimentally demonstrable. It makes more sense to understand one's students with preferences, but especially the possibility of changing registers depending on the situation. You could use this book by Daniel T. Willingham to help you : Why Don't Students Like School?: A Cognitive Scientist Answers Questions .

Measuring students' learning styles help the teacher to design the instructional situations as the student prefer and change the traditional classrooms to flexible classrooms. This is the meaning of matching (or harmony) between teaching styles (TS) and learning styles (LS), which leads to control and long-range learning.
There are many scales using to measure LSs quantitively such as Felder's Scale, VARK scale, Kolb Scale, Dunn & Dunn Scale....etc. These scales are available on internet and database. i think this would be very tricky. first, the ”learning styles” discourse is quite diverse and questionned, and we can imagine what ”teaching styles” is, but it will not be easy to find a useful model here either. Next tricky issue is the relation teaching-learning.
However, this last question is very interesting and can perhaps be researched if the whole teaching-learning situation is considered. The teacher often makes assumptions about students preferences, use of ICTs, dependence on his/her lectures, etc and makes a course design. Then students use this as they please and find convenient, but probably skip some recommendations on how to study and also use some youtube lectures, parts of MOOCs, find summaries online of course literature, check priorities with last years students, etc. The teacher is happy as long as the exam works and student passes, and by then praises his/her excellent course design... This can perhaps be studied with surveys or interviews.
Like Hervé Barras already mentioned, I would make sure to explore the critiques and skepticisms of learning styles, and Daniel Willingham's book [Why Don't Students Like School? ] is a very good way to begin doing so from a cognitive perspective.

Face different learning styles by setting different teaching styles. Every learning style has its appropriate teaching style. for new teacher who does not know learning style of all students have to prepare different learning activities which will engage learners by their choices. your activity should be done into different style of teaching for facilitating all choices of learning.
