Is it possible to obtain experimentally a valid KIC as well as JIC value for Ultrafine grain Aluminum alloy?
I have obtained a valid KIC value based on first kink using Load vs COD curve. After first kink or pop in, large plastic deformation was found. What is the significance of this large plastic deformation. Does it indicate EPFM (i.e. JIC test).
Yes you can, but remember that the effect of thickness is important. To be sure that you are measuring Kic (or Jic), your thickness should be higher than a value that depend on the geometry of your tests sample.
