There are still many dedicated scientists who are doing quality research..

now coming back to your question.. IISc, BLR has a center, CeNSE, Centre for Nano Science and Engineering.. and they are doing TiO2 thin films.

It can be done any where, you need a reasonable clean room with any kind of physical vapor deposition methods. CVD, solgel methods are also possible. you can get better suggestions if you specific your requirements.

Sol-Gel is the easiest method for this. First prepare the sol &/or convert to gel, then it can be deposited as thin film on different substrate. Various techniques are available for thin film diposition like simple dip coating, spin coating followed by calcination of coated substrate, CVD & PVD. All these tech. are possible in India, bt 1st two are easiest.

& as Adyam said, 'be specific' i.e. What film thickness you want? What lab. facilities & chemicals you have??

100 % agree with Vishal Udmale ... You may get alot of literature on based of Spin coating/Dip coating chemical route by using different precursors and solvents.

Film quality depends on number of dust particle around the coating unit... so always try to use clean room if possible

Generally pore sizes vary with the method of synthesis, type of precursor, or by use of polymer.

that depends on the type of material doped. in some cases for high concentration of doping absorption in the visible is seen for e.g. on doping N,Fe, Mn etc. this increased absorption may help in photocatalytic applications using sunlight etc.

How it is reducing band gap energy. whether it is reducing the pore size of tio2 or simply because of freely moving electrons it is absorbing in the visible or UV light.Is there any requirement to select the dopants.Please tell me anyone.

That is not exactly variation of the band gap though that is also possible if the dopant concentration is high. However in small doping conditions, states belonging to the impurity forms in the mid gap region. The selection of dopant would depend on the region in visible that it absorbs. Therefore excitation with wavelength in the region of absorption of the dopant is used to study photocatalysis with a particular dopant. Secondly it will also depend on efficiency of a dopant to effect a catalysis. This is generally done by measuring time it takes to degrade.I hope this answers ur question.

pore size indirectly is related to area of the surface exposed. greater the area exposed for a given weight of sample, the greater is the activity.

The study was done in Canada with in close relationship with the US state of California. Take note that the "Wastes" were gazous ones and not liquid, Huh?

Second, the titanium atom hybridation wthin its catalytic forms need to be formal.

Lastly, the effective ($.$$) way to use a metal catalyst is in its nanometric form...

Bwaff Sangeetha. No problem! To answer your question straight forward, yes nanosized titanium thin film can be produced in India. I once worked with a native Indian graduate some 12 years back and I clearly seen that the teaching of sciences is far more regourous in India then other countries.

As I ment to say in a previous email where I sent you some more publications, it would be a nice thing if someone would find a way to create a polished alloy (Titanium as one of the metals) surface having a curvature that concentrate the right UV-Wavelenght that trigger the degradation process.

By the way, let me please have a smile to the fact that you may have to work on such a project for a major part of your active life! It cannot be solved in a couple of years!

I'm not sure if there are any groups doing Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) in India. However, I know that many groups around the world like to collaborate and will do depositions for others. There are even a few companies that will do it as a service. If you need very thin, smooth, defect free films ALD is unparalleled. The technique provides sub-nanometer control of thickness.

I do believe that "Electrons spinning" is not only possible in India but they they do so, non-stop as they do everywhere on planet earth! They spin. HiHiHi!

This makes me think of my yonger years when as a joke; I asked my organic teacher:

@ palashIt is really helpful.But I don't understand what is spin cleaning.

Clean the substrate with jets of solvents while spinning at high speed (generally ~4000 to 5000 rpm in a spin coater) just before you coat sol-gel material. We have noticed that we get better quality films and stronger adhesion with the substrate that way than a pre cleaned substrate.
