Dogs, properly trained, discover easily and infallibly if a person is infected with SARS-CoV-2 the virus that causes the COVID 19 disease. Is it possible to build an artificial nose to detect those infected with the virus SARS-CoV-2 as dogs do?
Thanks for your friendly sharing. Mimicking natural processes is a well-known and succeeded way to scientific and technological development. Dogs are a happy example of amazing creatures. Surely that humans still have much to learn with such reliable and solidary creatures. I never forget one day, when I was kid, and I did fall down from a tree, that the first who came swiftly to trying to help me, was a dog.

Dear Ahmed Saeed Mohmed, I don't know if the virus has a smell but it is certain that in Dubai, Helsinki, and perhaps many other airports they use dogs to identify passengers infected with the virus SARS-CoV-2.

Dear Samuel Oluyomi Ayodele, I don't think it matters whether there is scientific basis or not. Dogs, properly trained, identify COVID 19 patients instantly and more reliably than swabs. This is an experimental fact regardless of the scientific basis and our clinical judgment.

Yes it is possible. There may be a tiny robot or detector in artificial nose which intimates upon detecting suspecious virus.
