I am using 1%, 1.5% and 2% sodium alginate solutions and reacting them with calcium lactate to encapsulate salbutamol. In the Korsmeyer-Peppas plot, the 1st and 3rd formulation follows super case II transport while the second formulation follows the anomalous (non-Fickian diffusion).

you can check with higuchi model also, and it also depends on the erosion and swelling of the polymer in your release media and its pH

yes, it is possible to obtain different mechanisms due to intensity of interactions of polymer in pH of media.

this anamolous behaviour is possible because of improper curing of the alginate with Calcium ions resulting in poor formation of calcium alginate matrix.
