Is it possible to extract DNA for further analysis/diagnosis from Papanicolaou stained cytology slide?
It is possible but not recomended - eosin could do destruction of DNA.
You can try it (we did it EGFR with cobas from HE slides and it worked...) but be carefull with interpretation, you can have false negative results.
Better is use different staining for your cytology slides - there is no such problem with Giemsa stain,
