RCT is just a basic experimental design with random assignment to condition. This method can be and is used in all areas of psychology. The "clinical" part of the name mainly applies when testing the effect of medical interventions (e.g. drugs) on actual patients. Here is an example of a partial "RCT" in early childhood intervention.
