I want to detect the natural disturbance of a subtropical hill forest(Bangladesh) using Landsat imagery. I can have the field data/baseline data of present time only. But I also want to detect the disturbances of 10 years ago and compare them with present disturbance.
You could simply do a change detection using indices as a parameter. More information about the forest is needed like phenology and type of forest to specify any methodology.

The best situation for getting the data you want would be to have started monitoring the study area 10 years ago but I believe you could keep in touch with local ancient residents if there was to try to get some information from the forest in the past if there was any use Such as agriculture, extraction of wood, fire, among other actions.
You can also check that no university or government bodies have done any work in the area (mapping, census, etc.), and can try to obtain satellite images or aerial photogrammetry surveys that have been made and are available in government bodies or even in the Google Earth that can give you a touch of landscape changes over time.
In fact all this would be to try to verify anthropic disturbances.
For natural causes also try to obtain information about the situation of the place with local residents on the occurrence of natural lightning and fires, strong winds that have caused trees to fall and thus identify possible clearings that have been opened in the forest.

Yes, it is possible!
You may use time series LANDSAT images (available for all around the world from year 1970s to present) to measure quantitatively of your forest disturbance criteria. For instances, if your criteria of forest disturbance are changes in the forest patch e.g. size, shape, contiguity, etc. you can directly compare these values time to time as indicators of the forest disturbance. Your current field data is useful to generate accurate current land use/cover map.

You can use the time series landset images of the past 10 years to get an idea of the forest situation over the time period. You can find satellite images for free from many websites including USGS. But about the field data, it will be better to consider the previous studies and reports. Asking people questions about what was the situation 10 years ago may not give concrete understandings.
