As you know, in Abaqus, there are different types of connectors which, based on their free or constrained DOFs, we can define specific fasteners. The properties are defined in three main directions. Now my question is, how can we define a connector to work just in its force orientation ( it may be X, Y, or any other direction between these two main directions)?

if i got you right, you want a linear movement along the force direction. you can use 'Translator' connection type from interaction module.

Exactly, I need a connection to respond or to react in the direction which is the direction of its force orientation. It means this direction can be, for example, between X and Y. I mean it is not always one of the main directions (X, Y, and Z).
One question: Do you know what is the difference of translated and axial connector types?

as far as i know, translator connector is applied on a node which has one direction movement and in the other directions has no linear and rotational movement. for instance, a key can move linearly in a groove and has no other movement related to the groove. but in axial connector you connect two node to each other that have just linear movement related to each other (x or y or z) but each node is not constrain in any direction(x,y,z,rx,ry,rz). it get a little complicated i hope you have understood my explanation.

according to what you mentioned about the direction which is not always one of the main direction, you can assign a local coordinate system on you points for such conditions.
in addition, there is possibility to constrain the movements of a desire point with equation, it means you relate each DOF of the point with specific equation.
