The mistake in the article that was already published (a few days ago) occurred under the responsibility of the journal's production team and not under my responsibility. I don't understand why I have to pay for open access and also tolerate the publisher's mistakes.
They swapped the column headings in one table so that each heading belongs to the neighboring column (it's a two-column table).
Suggestions/thoughts?
Ask them to remedy the problem, even if it's a footnote to a correction notice. They can do it easily for online journals, which is all journals these days. I had it done to one of my articles :)

The guest editor promised me he'll take care of that. I just have to wait and hope.
I am still in correspondence with the journal, and they asked me to submit a corrigendum. It turns out that it is a very cumbersome and unfriendly process, actually a new submission with all that it means.
In other newspapers in the past (some of them) they gave me about a week after the online publication to email them corrections. It's a shame that not all journals allow this.

I agree it appears cumbersome but I think it is important for the integrity of the paper and for you as an author and I urge you to do so. Not doing so has led to some quite high-profile problems and whole journals - some with fairly high reputations - have come into question.

Joseph C Lee I agree with you, but I think this process can and should be streamlined to encourage authors to submit corrections.
In my case, in particular, it is a mistake done by the production team, and it causes even more antagonism towards this process.
My suggestion:
Simply streamline the correction/corrigendum submission process. They already have the processed, edited article, it should take exactly one assigned editor to review the correction/s and get the process going in a few days.
I have some editing experience (though limited) with scholarly papers, and I'm sure it is possible to do this without jeopardizing the integrity of the paper.

It certainly sounds troublesome... maybe you can do that as another task that is fairly high is your priorities but you might have to do other tasks more urgently.
I share your frustration it is THEIR fault and I think that you should take the opportunity to highlight exactly that in the "correctio notice".
