Is it possible to co-extract PLFAs and VFAs from a shale sample?

Hello researchgaters! Quick question: Does anyone has ever tried to coextract PLFAs and VFAs (volatile fatty acids) with good recoveries? I was thinking about getting potentialy my VFAs in the aqueous phase of a Bligh-Dyer extraction.
