I'm conducting an interdisciplinary research project related to environmental science and electromagnetics. The reviewers of the research article that related to the electromagnetics part of the research, requested to know more about the environmental part of the research to justify the reason and the intent of conducting this electromagnetics research.
Actually the article that related to the environmental part is just submitted to a journal and not accepted or published yet. A YouTube video was produces to summarize the purpose and the main aim of the research project by explaining the relationship between both environmental and electromagnetics parts of the research project.
Is it possible and helpful to cite this YouTube video as reference ?

Since a reference in Youtube does not have proper journal name, issue or volume... so its not advisable to cite Youtube reference...Cz youtube cited is accessible to all so the authenticity of the provided video is always in question. So its advisable to cite reference which is accepted by scientific community in the form of articles, research papers, websites....
If the journal allows for websites to be cited, then a youtube movie should be allowed as well, in my opinion. What is the difference? Both are non reviewed, so are in general not preferred. But in this case, it should be a very suitable reference, nicer than a standard project website that disappears after the project.
Of course you can cite a YouTube video, but as the internet is changing all the time, you should provide full access details, the last day of access you used for your paper etc. Just like for a web site.... however, given the nature of what they ask, I think you should consider additional options too; e.g. providing them in the review response or in the papers introduction, the justification for the research approach and focus and the perspectives of the environmental aspects. That should be possible without detracting from any other of you articles.To me, it does not sound like they'd be content with a youtube reference...
